By 27/08/2026One Comment5 min read

The question almost every coach-in-training asks is simple: how many coaching hours for ACC — and then for PCC and MCC?

Here are the current coaching-hour numbers for ACC, PCC, and MCC. On Link2Coaching, peer coaching hours are paid hours. Recheck totals on the official ICF experience requirements before you apply.

Hours are necessary. They are not sufficient. Each credential also requires mentor coaching, a performance evaluation (recorded session/s assessed against ICF competencies), and the ICF Credentialing Exam. MCC also requires that you hold or have held a PCC.

ACC: 100 coaching hours

Associate Certified Coach is the first ICF credential for most people. You need 100+ hours of client coaching with at least eight clients. At least 75 of those hours must be paid. At least 25 hours must fall in the 18 months before you submit.

That is why new coaches feel stuck: you need hours, and you need skill. Peer coaching closes the gap. On Link2Coaching, peer coaching hours are paid hours. See how to log coaching hours for ICF.

PCC: 500 coaching hours

Professional Certified Coach requires 500+ hours with at least 25 clients, including at least 450 paid hours, and at least 50 hours in the 18 months before you apply. You do not have to hold ACC first if you already meet PCC requirements, though many coaches use ACC as a milestone.

The jump from 100 to 500 hours is a weekly-practice problem. Keep matching, coaching, and logging. Peer coaching hours are paid hours.

MCC: 2,500 coaching hours

Master Certified Coach requires 2,500+ hours with at least 35 clients, including at least 2,250 paid hours, plus education, MCC-level mentor coaching, and a performance evaluation at MCC. This is years of sustained client work, not a weekend of logging.
